Wildman Designs is Julie Wildman—a graphic designer, artist, lettering artist, and teacher. She graduated with a BA in graphic design from Chicago’s Columbia College and has been working as a designer and artist for over 25 years.

In 1998, she discovered a passion for calligraphy—the art of beautiful writing—and has studied with numerous world-renown calligraphers and lettering artists ever since. Her calligraphic work has been exhibited in juried shows throughout the Midwest, and has been featured in various publications.

In 2007 and 2014, her pieces ‘Psalm 117’ and ‘An Alphabet Book,’ respectively, won the Newberry Library’s Purchase Prize Award and became a part of the Library’s permanent collection.

She has been sharing her love of letters by teaching calligraphy for over ten years and actively promoting lettering through various community organizations and schools in the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana areas, as well as throughout the U.S. and Canada.
